CACTUS gears up to talk about ‘Trust in Peer Review’ during Peer Review Week 2020

Cactus Communications is all set to celebrate the 6th edition of Peer Review Week 2020. The 6th edition of the global event, from Sep 21 to Sep 25, will honour the importance of peer review in research dissemination.

Mumbai, India  ()

Cactus Communications, a technology company accelerating scientific advancement, is all set to celebrate the 6th edition of Peer Review Week 2020 as one of the organizing committee members of the annual global event. Peer review is an integral part of the journal publishing and research communication cycle. It is designed to not only help authors improve their manuscripts but also to enable the dissemination of verified research. Every year, Peer Review Week presents the academic and scholarly publishing world with the opportunity to highlight various aspects of peer review – right from its invaluable benefits to areas of improvement. This year, the week-long global event (September 21 - September 25) will focus on recognising and celebrating the importance of peer review, especially around the theme of ‘Trust’ and how trust is un underlying element in the peer review process as well as in the perception of its value.

Announcing CACTUS’s participation in the event, Abhishek Goel, CEO, Cactus Communications, said, “CACTUS is proud to be on the Peer Review Week organizing committee this year, and we are gearing up to participate by initiating thought-provoking discussions about the process. Given how the COVID-19 pandemic has made us all look at science communication in a different light, the theme this year – Trust in Peer Review – holds even greater significance.”

In a week-long programme, CACTUS will discuss various aspects of trust in peer review including how authors, reviewers, and journals as well as publishers could work together to foster a sense of trust and reliability in the peer review process. The focus will be on new technologies, platforms, and solutions that researchers could use to create more reliable science that can also be disseminated faster. CACTUS will also initiate discussions around how authors can be better prepared to deal with peer review as well as upskill to become peer reviewers themselves. The highlight of CACTUS’s activities is a series of webinars and talks they have planned during the event.

Clarinda Cerejo, VP, Content & Community, Cactus Communications said, “Over the years, our interactions with researchers have demonstrated the significance that peer review process holds for them – not just as authors who are at the receiving end of peer review comments but also as academics who could at some point become peer reviewers themselves. Our activities during Peer Review Week 2020, especially the webinars and talks we planned, will enable us to show our thought leadership, participation, and empathy with researchers. It will also help us to positively contribute further to the research ecosystem at a global level.”
