Brill, the international scholarly publisher, acquires all shares of Editions Rodopi.
Following an earlier announcement, today Koninklijke Brill N.V. has closed the acquisition of all shares of Editions Rodopi B.V., Amsterdam. The acquisition includes highly esteemed book series and journals in history, philosophy, theology, social sciences, linguistics, literature, and cultural studies. In total, the publishing list comprises of 3,000 book titles, growing by 130 new titles each year, for the most part in the English language, but also in French, German and Spanish. The annual turnover of the list is about € 1 million. The acquisition comes into effect retroactively on 1 January 2014 and Brill expects the takeover to have a positive effect on this year's earnings per share.
Brill's CEO Herman Pabbruwe says: "We are quite happy with this agreement. We are delighted to welcome all authors, customers and personnel from Editions Rodopi and we trust that we will be able to continue serving them like they have been used to at Editions Rodopi. In the coming months we will align both operations in such a way as not to interfere with the day-to-day business."
