Leiden, The Netherlands  ()

Leiden / Boston / Paderborn / Singapore / Beijing - 21 June 2018

Brill and the Society for the History of Emotions have agreed that the journal Emotions: History, Culture, Society (EHCS) will from now on be published with Brill. Edited by Katie Barclay (Adelaide) and Andrew Lynch (Western Australia), EHCS is dedicated to understanding the emotions as culturally and temporally situated phenomena, and to exploring the role of emotion in shaping human experience and action by individuals, groups, societies and cultures. Published in two issues, the inaugural volume (2017) is now available from the Brill website at www.brill.com/ehcs. The next issue, Vol. 2:1, will be published in July.

"We are delighted that EHCS is joining Brill," say journal editors Katie Barclay and Andrew Lynch. "This move offers the journal and the Society for the History of Emotions great benefits: increased profile and publicity; accessibility to more libraries through Brill's online publication presence; and continuing professional management of all areas of production and marketing. Brill makes a perfect match for our international, trans-temporal and multi-disciplinary approach to the study of emotions. We look forward to a very happy association."

"Over the years, Brill has published numerous books on, or related to, the history of emotions," says Arjan van Dijk, Senior Acquisitions Editor at Brill. "This booming field is continuously yielding new scholarly insights, pertinent both to historians and to today's society. We are very pleased to work with the Society for the History of Emotions and to contribute to the further development of this important discipline."
