A new and expanded edition of the European Digital City Index (EDCi) has been released
The Index describes how cities support digital entrepreneurship and digital startups. It provides information about the strengths and weaknesses of local ecosystems to support both startups and scale-ups.
The index allows policy makers to identify promising areas for development and activity, areas that should be prioritised for development and allows cities to benchmark their performance against other European hubs.
A range of factors are considered, including:
- The digital infrastructure (mobile internet speed etc)
- Entrepreneurial culture
- Access to capital
- Skills (labour costs, access to graduates etc)
- Non-digital infrastructure (transport links etc)
Top European cities for startups
The Index covers all capital cities in the EU and thirty two non-capital cities in the EU that are important hubs of digital entrepreneurship.
- London
- Stockholm
- Paris
- Helsinki
- Amsterdam
- Copenhagen
- Berlin
- Munich
- Dublin
- Vienna
Results can be viewed by city, or by theme on this webpage.
The Index is produced by Nesta as part of the European Digital Forum.
