Yahoo admits data breach

The breach is even larger than originally feared with 500 million user accounts accessed.   Initial claims about the hack were made earlier this year, when it became clear the data was being offered for sale on the dark web.

Questions will doubtless be asked about why Yahoo waited so long to confirm the data breach.  The company is currently negotiating its sale to Verizon.
