Wellcome Trust and OA research

The Wellcome Trust has stated that it plans to get tougher to ensure that Wellcome Trust funded research is made open access within six months of original publication.  This six-month target has also been suggested by the Research Council UK.

Although the six month target is already Wellcome Trust policy, only 55% of partners are currently compliant.  Steps under consideration to increase compliance include holding back final grant payments until results had been made OA or taking researchers OA track-records into account before granting new funding.
