The Translated Literature Award is in its second year (last year’s winner was The Emissary by Yoko Tawada.)
The Award honours authors and translators - the US$10,000 prize is split evenly between the winning author and translator.
This year’s longlist features works translated from ten languages: Arabic, Danish, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Publishers submitted a total of 145 books for the 2019 National Book Award for Translated Literature.
The award winners will be announced in Ocober 2019.
