Twitter updates policies on abuse

Acknowledging that its previous violent threats policy was too narrow, Twitter has updated the policy beyond direct and specific threats to include "threats of violence against others or promoting violence against others".

Twitter's support team have also been given the option to lock abusive accounts for specific periods of time.

Twitter is also testing a new feature which will use a range of 'signals and context' to identify suspected abusive tweets with a view to limiting their reach.
