This year's list includes, for the first time, global organisations. The top 50 companies are generating $150 billion per year between them.
Top of the pile is Google, with an estimated digital revenue of $36.4B. The business information publishers are in there too, with Bloomberg (4th), Reed Elsevier (5th), Thomson Reuters (8th), Pearson (13th), Dun & Bradstreet (23rd), Wolters Kluwer (29th) and Informa at 47th.
The positions are based on revenues earned from digital content - or from advertising. The methodology used is explained here.
What is particularly interesting is that digital revenues account for just 16.5% of the total revenue of the companies in the list.
