TomTom driving data used by Dutch police

TomTom to review data sharing after public backlash.


The anonymised data was passed to police who used it to place speed cameras in locations where the average speed broke the speed limit.

Since the news broke, there have been expressions of concern and anger from disgruntled users.  TomTom stated the data had been sold to local authorities to help with city planning.
