The security services of both Sweden and the UK were questioned by their governments yesterday (7th November).
In the UK the heads of GCHQ, MI5 and MI6 were questioned by members of the UK Government’s Intelligence and Security Committee. They were asked about using US data to circumvent UK’s privacy laws. In an unprecedented move, the hearing was broadcast, albeit with a time delay.
In Sweden members of the parliamentary Committee on Defence questioned officials at the country’s Defence Radio Establishment about whether their data collection processes adhere to Sweden’s data protection laws.
