New York Public Library (NYPL) and TV channel HBO have partnered on a campaign to celebrate the written word and storytelling.
The campaign #ReadingIsLit will feature books that have been adapted for (or inspired) film and TV. This list includes Farenheit 451, Olive Kitteridge and Angels in America.
Librarians have created expanded booklists called ‘readalikes’ (“if you enjoyed Game of Thrones, you might enjoy this”).
HBO is donating a “bookshelf” of featured titles to 25 select libraries across the country. On the HBO website, programme creators share the books and authors that have inspired them.
You can follow #ReadingIsLit on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
