Google has announced it is shutting down Google News in Spain, ahead of the so called Google Tax law, which comes into effect in January 2015.
The law, approved by Spain’s government in October 2014, requires Google to pay for using content, no matter how small, on its websites. Google has decided to withdraw its news service rather than pay licensing fees.
