Portugal: pressure on Google to pay for news content

Portugal has become the latest European country seeking payment for content from the search engine. 

Publishers are looking for payment for links to articles and the use of leading paragraph content which appear in Google News.

Negotiations are ongoing.  Google reached a similar agreement in Belgium and has helped create a fund in France to help publishers develop online projects and content.
