OCLC publishes social metadata recommendations

Report provides guidance for libraries, archives and museums on user generated metadata.

OCLC has published the third (of three) reports on the use of social metadata in the library, archive and museum (LAM) sectors.  The latest report features recommendations for implementing social media tools to attract user generated content.

The report concludes that LAMs who choose to do nothing in this area are at a risk of becoming increasingly irrelevant to their audiences.  The report recommends the setting of clear objectives and a willingness to leverage user enthusiasm.  The report includes full details of the resources used in the creation of the report.

The report is available here.
