The new edition of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography features more than 200 new contemporary figures who died in 2008. Leading figures from broadcasting and entertainment, film and theatre, sport, literature and journalism, and industry and business are featured, including Harold Pinter, Beryl Cook and Oliver Postgate.
Contributors to the new edition of DNB include Michael Billington (writing about Harold Pinter) and Melvyn Bragg (writing about David Jones).
DNB now features more than 53,000 articles covering the lives of more than 58,000 people.
