Netherlands decides against e-book price fixing

Decision follows impact study on book market.

The Netherlands Department of Culture has announced that there will be no fixed pricing for e-books.

The announcement follows a study into the impact of e-books on the book market in the Netherlands, where print copy books are fixed price.

The report concluded that a fixed price for e-books (which currently account for approximately 1% of the market in the country) would slow down the adoption of e-books but would not slow down the current trend of bookstore closures.
