Figures released by CBS (Statistics Netherlands) suggest that 12% of Dutch people over 15 years old were the victims of cybercrime in 2012. This was the first year that cybercrime was included in the annual safety monitor published by Statistics Netherlands.
Half of those reporting cybercrime were victims of hacking on their computer, email accounts, website or smartphone. A quarter had been victims of cyberbullying and a smaller group had been victims of identity fraud. Young people are most likely to be victims of computer crime - almost one in five of respondents aged 15 and 25 years reported that they had been victims.
