ILI - The Library Innovation Conference - today announced the appointment of award-winning Digital Library and Information SpecialistLiz McGettigan as conference co-chair.
Liz (pictured) is a Director of Digital Library and Cultural Experiences and is recognised internationally as a leader in the future library, transformation and digital literacies movements.
Prior to this, Liz was Head of Libraries and Information Services for the City of Edinburgh where she led the team delivering Edinburgh's first fully-online council service, social media suite and 24/7 interactive portals and apps.
Liz is a former Trustee of the UK Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, Past President of Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals CILIP in Scotland and former member of SOCITM, and the Institute of Informatics and Digital Innovation Advisory Board at Edinburgh Napier University.
Liz will be joining fellow co-chairs Marydee Ojala, editor of Online Searcher magazine from the US, and global librarian Jan Holmquist from Denmark.
Val Skelton, ILI's Programme Director said, “Liz will be well known to ILI delegates for her passion for the future and potential of libraries. We are absolutely delighted she will be joining her fellow co-chairs and the ILI Advisory Board as the programme for ILI 2019 starts to take shape”.
Liz takes up the role of co-chair on the retirement of Phil Bradley in 2019.
“Phil has been a supporter of ILI for many years, and is well-known in the UK and beyond as a passionate champion of libraries and information professionals,” said Val Skelton. “Starting his retirement at the close of the conference in 2018, Phil treated delegates to a moving and memorable closing keynote highlighting the vital importance of information professionals and the services they provide. We wish Phil all the very best for his retirement and look forward to welcoming him to the conference in the future as a friend of ILI. “
ILI takes place at London’s Olympia Conference Centre on 15-16 October 2019, with pre-conference workshops on 14 October. The conference call for speakers is currently open. More information here.
