LIBER, the Association of European Research Libraries, has called on the European Commission to take measures to enable Open Science.
In the statement LIBER welcomes the European Commissions consultation on Science 2.0 as a first step to strengthening the global competitiveness of European research. It also goes on to state that the development of appropriate policies will impact beyond research and improve European competitiveness across the board by improved knowledge transfer and encouraging data-driven innovation.
The statement calls for a range of measures and activities including:
- Coordinated OA roadmaps
- Recognition of excellence in Open Science (inclusion in ranking systems)
- Advocacy for Open Science
- Copyright reform
