Italy digital sales tax

Budget committee approves plans to introduce levy.

The proposals allow for a flat rate tax to be introduced on digital sales and is designed to target large multinational organisations like Google and Facebook.

Earlier in 2007, Google agreed to pay Italy €306 million in back taxes after a lengthy dispute.

Other European countries, including France and Germany, have been considering legislation that will reform the way the large tech giants are taxed on revenue generated in Europe.
