France: workers right to disconnect

Employees have the right to ignore work email out of set hours.

From January 1st a new employment law guarantees French employees the right to disconnect from work emails outside of their standard working hours.

Companies employing more than 50 people must provide guidelines which set out hours employees are not expected to answer – or send – emails.

The aim of the new law is to combat stress and reduce the intrusion of work into people’s private lives.
