France: government help for bookshops

The French Culture Minister has announced key elements of the government's plans to help France's independent booksellers.

• A fund of €5m will be made available to provide loans to bookshops with cashflow problems
• An increase in the budget of ADELC, which subsidises booksellers, from €4m to €7m

Further initiatives may be announced later in the year.
