In France the Groupement Francais de l'industrie de l'information (GFII) which represents public and private stakeholders involved in the knowledge and information industries has published the preliminary findings of its Working Group on Open Access.
It recommends an independent impact study into a number of questions, including:
- Suitable embargo periods for different disciplines
- Alternative business models to ensure quality, independence etc
- Impact of OA on other publishing sectors
- What should be the definition of 'publicly funded research'?
