France: New official word for hashtag

In France the Commission Générale de Terminologie et de Néologie, which has a role in defending the French language against anglicisation, has named 'mot-dièse' ('sharp word') as the preferred replacement for the English word hashtag.

A report in The Local France reveals that the official announcement was made on the government website Journal Officiel .
