Facebook in 2012 - 'mobile first'

Facebook has prioritised mobile in 2012.


Speaking at the Global Mobile Internet Conference Vaughn Smith (Facebook's Vice President of corporate development) said that product development engineers have been focusing on 'mobile first' since the beginning of 2012.

This rapid change in focus is reflected by the fact that at the beginning of this year Facebook mobile carried no advertisements at all.  The mobile shift means that Facebook is changing its monetisation strategy.
