Facebook facial recognition

German authorities had criticised Facebook's facial recognition feature.  The country's office of Data Protection and Freedom of Information had said the software was illegal under European law.

Facebook had previously maintained that the tagging function did not contravene European data protection legislation, but has now stated that it will delete all collected templates and seek user consent in the future.
