Facebook and facial recognition

Facebook's facial recognition feature 'Tag Suggestions', originally launched in the US, has begun to roll out in other countries.

The move has been controversial, (an article on PC World.com called it 'creepy').  Commentators have been focusing on the 'opt-out' nature of the feature.
