European academics sign data protection position

The website (Data Protection in Europe) was set up by five academics to counter what they perceive as ‘huge lobby groups' attempting to influence and weaken proposed European data protection legislation.

So far the website, which was launched in February, has attracted over 80 members, representing 19 member states as well as Norway and Switzerland.
