Forrester has released a (paid-for) report, European online retail sales, which explores the growth rates and underlying drivers of growth in ecommerce in Europe to 2017.
TheNextWeb has summarised some of the key findings, including:
* Predicted increase in online sales from €112 billion in 2012 to €191 billion in 2017
* Estimated 11% compound annual growth rate
* 18% predicted growth in Spain; 16% predicted growth for Italy
* UK growth predicted at 10% (The UK has "passed beyond the boom years")
* Over half the money spent on music and a quarter of mone spent on books will be via the internet
* By 2017 Europeans will spend €10 billion online for food and drink
* By 2017 online retail will represent:
- 15% of the UK's economy
- 10% of Germany's economy
- 7% of France's economy
- 7% of the economy in the Netherlands
