EU supports OA

The European Union (EU) is set to make OA publishing 'the norm' for researchers who benefit from its research funding.  A pilot scheme is already underway in seven research areas.   Negotiations with publishers are ongoing and an official announcement is expected later this year. 

The EU's research funding programme is worth £64 billion.
