Author, data journalist and information designer David McCandless will be the opening keynote speaker at this year’s Internet Librarian International (ILI) which will take place in London in October.
McCandless’ books Information Is Beautiful and Knowledge is Beautiful are dedicated to visualising ideas, issues, knowledge and data, and take infographics and data-visualisation to the next level. His work explores the use of data visualisation to discover new stories in the sea of data that surround us, and his keynote will present a creative exploration of the potential of data visualisation to help people quickly understand, navigate and find meaning in a complex world.
Day 2 of the conference will be opened by Jodie Ginsberg, Chief Executive of Index on Censorship, the international organisation that promotes and defends the right to freedom of expression around the world, challenging censorship whenever and wherever it occurs. Ginsberg’s keynote will be entitled ‘Fighting to speak freely: balancing privacy and free expression in the information age’.
ILI takes place at Olympia Conference Centre, London on 20-21 October 2015. Full programme details can be found at http://www.internet-librarian.com/2015/
