The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled on a four year legal battle about the copyright status of cached copies of web pages created during browsing.
The ruling settled the long dispute between the UK’s Newspaper Licensing Authority (NLA) and PRCA, the industry body for the UK’s PR Industry.
The ruling found that on-screen copies and the cached copies made by an end-user in the course of viewing a website satisfy the conditions of infringement exemptions set out in the EU Copyright Directive.
