British Library to develop open repository services

Repository aims to increase the visibility and impact of research outputs generated by cultural institutions.

The British Library (BL) will be working with other cultural and memory organisations to build an open source repository service for research content.

The pilot organisations (the British Library, the British Museum, National Museums Scotland, Museum of London Archaeology and the Tate) are all Independent Research Organisations (IROs) - cultural and memory institutions undertaking significant research.

The pilot project partners hope to achieve economies of scale and increase the visibility and impact of their research outputs.

BL has appointed OA publisher Ubiquity Press to build the pilot repository.
