British Library planning expansion

The British Library has ambitious plans to expand its activities in the north. The proposals to open ‘British Library North’ in Leeds will form part of the city’s five-year cultural investment programme (Leeds 2023).

These plans are in addition to the planned upgrade and expansion of the BL’s reading rooms at Boston Spa in Leeds (Boston Spa Renewed) which aims to expand the capacity of the site by its 50th anniversary in 2023.
