Springer Nature to bring ORCID digital identifiers to book authors

ORCID will help solve author name ambiguity problems in research and scholarly communications.

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) provides a registry of unique identifiers for researchers, ensuring that they can be linked to and recognised for their work. ORCID identifiers are embedded into the key workflows of the research process, such as patent applications and manuscript submissions.

Springer Nature is to become the first publisher to implement ORCID identifiers in the book workflow process.  This means that authors of books and book chapters will also be given their own digital identifier and help link their research contributions and to enhance scientific discovery and collaboration.
